Cannot Monitor Other Network Devices
Overview
DU Meter monitors network traffic on the computer where it's installed. It cannot monitor traffic from other devices on your network (phones, tablets, other computers, smart TVs, etc.).
Why This Limitation Exists
DU Meter operates at the network adapter level of the local machine. It sees traffic entering and leaving your computer's network interface, not traffic flowing through your router.
How to Monitor Whole-Network Traffic
To monitor all devices on your network, you need a router-level solution:
-
Router with built-in monitoring - Many modern routers have traffic monitoring features in their admin interface
-
Third-party router firmware - DD-WRT, OpenWrt, or Tomato firmware often include detailed traffic monitoring
-
Dedicated network monitoring device - Hardware solutions that sit between your modem and router
What DU Meter Can Do
DU Meter excels at monitoring the computer it's installed on: - Per-application bandwidth usage - Historical usage reports - Real-time traffic graphs - Data limit warnings
