Linux and macOS Not Supported

Overview

DU Meter is a Windows-only application. It does not support Linux, macOS, or other operating systems.

Why Windows Only?

DU Meter uses Windows-specific technologies:

• Windows Filtering Platform (WFP) for network traffic capture
• Windows kernel-mode drivers
• Windows shell integration (taskbar, system tray)

These technologies have no direct equivalents on other platforms.

Alternatives for Other Platforms

Linux

• vnstat - Console-based network traffic monitor
• nethogs - Per-process bandwidth monitoring
• iftop - Real-time bandwidth usage

macOS

• Built-in Activity Monitor (Network tab)
• nettop - Command-line network usage tool
• Third-party apps available on the Mac App Store

Virtual Machines

DU Meter can run in a Windows virtual machine on Linux or macOS hosts, but it will only monitor traffic within the VM, not the host system's traffic.
